Hearing that for the first time, you might wonder why in the world someone would put themselves through it. Exodus 90 is for men and Fiat 90 for women. The guidelines for each are slightly different, but focus on the same goal. These two retreats are designed to challenge a person physically, mentally, and spiritually for 90 days. The retreat can be done anytime during the year, but many students chose to start on January 21, 90 days before Easter. The basic idea for both Fiat and Exodus 90 is to clear your life from distractions — something all students could benefit from. Participants dedicate themselves to minutes of prayer each day, self-mastery practices such as cold showers, regular exercise, at least 7 hours of sleep, abstaining from sweets, snacks, TV, movies, social media, and nonessential material purchases , and meeting with a group once a week. There are so many more opportunities that I have taken part in due to my lack of time wasting on my phone. Bednar embarked on Exodus 90 because his friends convinced him to do it. The most challenging part of the retreat for him was taking cold showers daily.

Kayla Hartman , Writer February 13, Some Dowling students are taking a large step in their faith by taking on Fiat 90 or Exodus This opportunity was offered to Dowling students through their Ut Fidem groups. Fiat 90 and Exodus 90 are both 90 day programs, the girls will be taking on Fiat 90 and the boys will be taking on Exodus Both programs have similar guidelines but their differences are aimed at the group that is talking on the challenge. Some of the similarities include devoting 20 minutes a day to silent prayer, fasting from hot showers, no social media and fasting from sweets. Many people took on the challenge in order to grow in their relationship with God. Others are taking in the challenge with their Ut Fidem groups.
This spring, 24 women from Benedictine College will be participating in a day retreat that aims to challenge their body, mind and soul. It began Feb. Similar retreats including one called Exodus 90, a challenge being taken on by some men on campus, had been brought up in discussion at weekly meetings and served as inspiration for Fiat We want you to have a reason to celebrate on May 13 because you have been preparing. Such preparations are not for the faint of heart. There are 21 challenges total that have been split up into three groups, each one focusing on body, mind or soul. Fiat 90 dares women to sacrifice many aspects of daily life snacking, sweets, social media along with adding in tasks like daily Mass, weekly confession and fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays. Just over a week in, Weiger is already able to attest. Tynan and Mulholland said that though Fiat 90 is the challenge that some girls need, it is not something that everyone needs, nor something that everyone should do. The Scholarship Ball: a grand tradition.
I did Nineveh 90 in and it was similar to this with respect to the prayer, novena, fasting 2 days a week etc. As much as I hate to make gender distinctions, women are made to multitask, we apparently evolved that way according to a mandatory training we all had to take on this at my work. And for me, getting rid of all social media would mean I spend 2 months talking only to my cats, my boss and my team at work. I also think they have so much going on in this program that it detracts a little bit from its value. I agree.
